Surrounded by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department sharpshooters, a teenager surrendered inside a Compton home Friday evening and was arrested in connection with the shooting of three men earlier in the day.

The 16-year-old suspect, whose name was being withheld, was coaxed from the house in the 1800 block of East Palmer Street, a sheriff’s spokesman said. The department’s Special Weapons Team then searched the house but was unable to find a second suspect, identified as Danny Angel Guerrero, 18.

Deputies said Guerrero and the teenager drove to a home in the 14900 block of South Gibson Avenue about 11:45 a.m. The officers said the teenager got out of the passenger side and shot three men standing outside. Witnesses called police with a description of the car and a sheriff’s helicopter crew later spotted it in the driveway of the Compton home.

The victims were identified as Azell Rodriguez, Gustavo Gamboa and Deonisio Delgado, all 20. Gamboa and Delgado were listed in critical condition, and Rodriguez was listed as serious, the spokesman said. The crime is considered gang-related, he added.
