No Disease Signs in Kevorkian Case

From Times staff and wire reports

A woman who committed suicide last week with Jack Kevorkian’s help was overweight and depressed but showed no signs of chronic fatigue syndrome, the coroner said. The finding by a longtime critic of Kevorkian’s assisted-suicide campaign was questioned by other experts who said chronic fatigue syndrome leaves no sign in the body of its victim. But other experts also said the nature of Judith Curren’s condition--and the revelation that her husband was charged with abusing her less than three weeks before her death--suggest Kevorkian might be getting careless. Oakland County Coroner L.J. Dragovic said that Curren showed no signs of any physical illness.
