Battleship Missouri to Anchor in Hawaii

The battleship Missouri, where the Japanese surrendered to Gen. Douglas MacArthur ending World War II, will be permanently docked in Honolulu, the Navy said. Honolulu had vied with Bremerton, Wash., and the California cities of Long Beach and San Francisco in seeking the decommissioned battleship for use as a nonprofit museum. Since its decommissioning in 1992, it has been docked at Bremerton.
