The New York Yankees, in need of a left-handed reliever, got set-up specialist Graeme Lloyd and infielder Pat Listach from Milwaukee for pitcher Bob Wickman and outfielder Gerald Williams.

Lloyd was the Brewers’ most effective pitcher this year, compiling a 2.82 earned-run average. He was 2-4 in 52 appearances--a total of 51 innings. Williams, a smooth-fielding outfielder, was batting .270 with five homers and 30 RBIs. Wickman, a right-hander, was 4-1 with a 4.67 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 79 innings for the Yankees.

Pat Rapp, one of baseball’s hottest pitchers at this time last year, was demoted to triple-A Charlotte by the Florida Marlins. Rapp, who went 11-2 after the All-Star break last season, is 6-14 this year with a 5.19 ERA. The Houston Astros put rookie closer Billy Wagner on the 15-day disabled list and recalled right-hander John Hudek from triple-A Tucson. . . . The Atlanta Braves put reliever Pedro Borbon on the 15-day disabled list because of a torn ligament in his left elbow.
