Man Held in Girlfriend’s Fatal Shooting
A woman was shot and killed Sunday morning in the apartment she shared with her three children and her boyfriend, Los Angeles police officials said.
Mickie Ball, 30, was shot once during what Det. Frank Bishop described as an argument between her and her boyfriend, Wayne Landon. Ball was pronounced dead at the scene in the 9900 block of Sepulveda Boulevard.
Landon, 33, was arrested at a nearby house on suspicion of murder, Bishop said.
The shooting occurred about 9 a.m., police said. Bishop declined to say whether the children--ages 15, 5 and 2--witnessed the slaying. “I’d like to leave the children out of this,” he said, adding that the children were with Ball’s mother Sunday night.
Ball and Landon were the parents of one of the children, he said. Ball was the mother of the other two.
“The children are the big losers in this,” Bishop said. “They’ve lost their natural mother.”
