Woman Killed in Apartment Blaze
A middle-aged woman died early Monday after fire broke out in her Van Nuys apartment, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.
The blaze, reported at 12:12 Monday morning, was confined to her second-floor apartment in the rear of the Oakwood apartment building in the 15000 block of Sherman Way, spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
It took 25 firefighters less than 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, which caused about $3,000 worth of damage, Humphrey said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The dead woman’s name was not released pending notification of relatives.
