President Clinton has declared parts of Pennsylvania to be a major disaster area after extensive flooding.

Flooding in the aftermath of Hurricane Fran caused damage to at least 1,400 homes in central and southeastern Pennsylvania, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The president’s disaster declaration means residents in Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin, Montgomery and Perry counties may receive grants for temporary housing, minor home repairs and other disaster-related expenses.
