Fujio F. Fujiko, 62, Japanese cartoonist who co-created “Doraemon” comics featuring a magical robot cat. Born Hiroshi Fujimoto, he and co-creator Motoo Abiko used the joint pseudonym Fujiko Fujio for their animated children’s series and comic books begun 17 years ago. When the team broke up in 1987, Fujimoto adopted the pen name, adding an initial “F” as his own. Their robot cat from the 22nd century was sent to Tokyo to look after a little schoolboy. It was one of the few Japanese cartoons void of violence and therefore considered wholesome for small children. On Monday in Tokyo of liver failure.
