Stars at the Front of the Classroom
A “well done” is in order for five teachers honored this year by the Orange County Department of Education for their outstanding classroom work, innovative teaching approaches and unusual commitment to students:
--Working in the Orange Unified School District, Robyn Rae Tunstall helped write the charter for the county’s first charter campus, at Santiago Middle School.
--Edlynn Zimmermann of Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton has taught English for 14 years and has been successful in adapting her approach to the needs of individual students.
--Dorothy “Dottie” Kimble has struggled with physical problems in enthusiastically pursuing her teaching responsibilities at Wagner Elementary School in Placentia.
--Sheila P. Hillinger is “the kind of teacher who makes you take a look at yourself,” says one of her debate students. Hillinger has taught at Trabuco Hills High School in Mission Viejo since it opened in 1985.
--Dorothy LaLonde Stout, a geology instructor at Cypress College, balances innovative approaches with attention to tradition.
A bouquet for the work of all.
