Marina, Junior; Volleyball/Outside Hitter
Marina, a solid team in an extremely tough league, pulled off the upset of the season last week, defeating top-ranked Huntington Beach in five games. Phillips was key to the victory with 34 kills, 15 in the last two games that the Vikings won, 15-13 and 15-7. She had 20 kills in a sweep of Los Alamitos.
Jenny Bailey/Tennis/Singles
* Capistrano Valley, freshman. Lost only two games in sweeping her sets in victories over Trabuco Hills, San Clemente and Mission Viejo.
Emily Barker and Brooke Taylor/Tennis/Doubles
* Newport Harbor. Barker, a senior, and Taylor, a junior, won, 6-4, 6-4, 6-1, in a 11-7 victory over Corona del Mar.
Amber Puskas/Field Hockey/Forward
* Santiago, junior. Had a goal in each of the Cavaliers’ three victories as they won the Tournament of Champions title.
