Detroit Red Wing captain Steve Yzerman--a seven-time NHL all-star second only to Gordie Howe on the team’s career goal-scoring list--has signed a four-year contract that will allow him to finish his career in Detroit.

“This contract will make Steve one of the very few players in league history to have played his entire career with one team,” Jim Devellano, senior vice president of hockey operations, said Thursday.

Other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Yzerman, 31, in his 13th season, has 522 career goals and and 752 assists.

Philadelphia Flyer captain Eric Lindros will probably be sidelined one more week because of his groin injury, but could return for the Flyers’ Nov. 21 game at home against Pittsburgh.
