Road Still a Comfort to Montreal
Montreal stretched its road unbeaten string to six games Wednesday as Patrice Brisebois broke a tie with 10 minutes to play in a 6-4 victory over the Stars at Dallas.
“Sometimes on the road we don’t feel we need to put on a show like we do at home,” said Canadien center Sebastien Bordeleau, who assisted on Brian Savage’s tying goal to make the score 4-4 with a little more than 12 minutes to play.
The Canadiens are 3-0-3 in their last six away games but have lost their last four at home.
Joe Nieuwendyk scored two goals in a span of 1:45 early in the third period as the Stars rallied for a 4-3 lead.
Ottawa 3, Boston 2--Alexandre Daigle’s second-period goal in the game at Kanata, Ontario, gave the Senators their first victory against the Bruins in 22 games since Ottawa rejoined the NHL in the 1992-93 season.
Daigle’s 17th goal, at 17:28 of the second period, came on a rebound, after his initial shot hit the post.
Washington 3, Hartford 2--Steve Konowalchuk scored with 1:59 left in overtime at Landover, Md., as the Capitals handed the Whalers their fifth consecutive road loss and first defeat in nine overtime games this season.
Konowalchuk was trying a centering pass from the backboards, but the puck bounced off the pads of prone goaltender Jason Muzzatti and into the net.
