SEC IS MORE THAN OK
Southeastern Conference teams have won all four of their bowl games going into tonight’s Sugar Bowl, which counts for something, but we’re not sure what.
However, this sort of thing does make for good sports talk radio fodder and can warm or worry a lonely heart while counting down the days until spring practice.
Regardless, victories by Louisiana State (Peach), Auburn (Independence), Alabama (Outback) and Tennessee (Citrus) leave the SEC a win by Florida tonight away from a clean sweep and a boastful off-season.
For those scoring at home: The Pacific 10 Conference was 1-3; the Big Ten was 4-3; the Big 12 was 2-3, the Big East was 2-2; the Western Athletic Conference was 1-1 and the Atlantic Coast, glad basketball season has arrived, is 1-2 before Florida States meets Florida.
The only Mid-American team, Ball State, lost in the Las Vegas Bowl to Nevada, 18-15.
For military historians, the service academies split their bowl outings with Navy winning the Aloha and Army losing to Auburn, 32-29, in the Independence.
