Agency Seeking Latino Volunteers
El Concilio Del Condado de Ventura, a social service agency, is seeking young Latino volunteers to participate in monthly workshops that deal with teen violence, pregnancy and drug abuse.
The agency is also looking for young adults older than 19 to participate in the workshops as mentors.
The Latino Youth Support Group is part of El Concilio’s Youth Leadership Council, which aims to help build self-esteem and teaches social responsibility.
The agency’s Youth Council will be planning activities such as field trips to local universities and colleges, cultural events, camp outs and youth conferences.
The next workshop orientation is scheduled for Jan. 21 and 23 at 6 p.m. at El Concilio on 400 South B St. in Oxnard.
“The workshops give kids some positive directions and alternatives to work with,” Ricardo Melendez of El Concilio said.
