Jeff Adair and Mike Roberts were honored for saving an elderly woman’s life at the Anaheim Union High School District’s Dec. 12 meeting.
Roberts and Adair, who are both plumbers for the district, were on their way to work when they saw a house on fire. When they got closer, they saw an elderly woman sitting in the living room with a rag over her mouth.
Adair told a neighbor to call the Fire Department and began watering down the roof with a hose while Roberts tried to coax the woman out of the house.
“She fought me every step of the way, but I think she would have stayed in there,” said Roberts, who had to lift the woman out the living room window.
“We felt good because we knew if we didn’t pull up there, who knows what would have happened,” said Adair, an Anaheim resident. Roberts lives in Mission Viejo.
