PACIFIC 10 CONFERENCE

* WASHINGTON STATE (8-4, 0-1) at USC (6-3, 1-0)

Time--5. TV--Fox Sports West.

Radio--KWNK (670).

The Trojans look to open the Pacific 10 Conference season 2-0 for the first time since 1993-94, and finally face a team that doesn’t present matchup problems in the middle. Washington State probably will not start a player taller than 6-7, but guard Issac Fontaine, averaging 20 points a game, is always tough to defend and scored 22 and 20 points in two meetings last season as the teams split. USC may not be able to create as many problems as it did in Thursday’s 77-58 victory over Washington State by putting 6-6 Rodrick Rhodes at point guard, but the Trojans might go that direction if their offense sputters. The Cougars lost to UCLA, 84-56, on Thursday, their worst loss in 177 games. The game originally was scheduled for 5:30.
