Clipper update--After playing only two games in 11 days, the Clippers open a five-game, nine-day trip at Houston, where they’ve lost 20 consecutive games since a 104-97 victory Nov. 6, 1986. Guard Darrick Martin scored a career-high 38 points as the Clippers defeated the Utah Jazz, 115-101, at the Sports Arena last Monday. Guard Brent Barry has shot 61.5% and averaged 7.7 points in the last three games.

Rocket update--Their three-game winning streak ended with a 112-96 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night. Center Hakeem Olajuwon is averaging 23.8 points and 9.5 rebounds, and forward Charles Barkley is averaging 20.8 points and 15.2 rebounds. Barkley recorded his 20th double-double of the season with 30 points and 14 rebounds against the Trail Blazers.
