Mobile Clinic to Stop at Area Schools
In an attempt to provide convenient health care for students of low-income families, a mobile clinic is scheduled to roll into Santa Paula Elementary School District campuses starting Tuesday.
Several nurses and a medical assistant will perform physical examinations, which include immunizations as well as hearing, vision and dental screenings.
“We give the same services here that the clinics do but we try to reach more people,” said Martha Clensay, manager of the Santa Paula Clinic, which worked with the school district and Ventura County Public Health Services to launch the program.
The first van stop is scheduled for Isbell Middle School, from Tuesday until Jan. 21. On Feb. 4 to 18, the unit will be at Grace Thille Elementary School and at McKevett Elementary School from March 4 to 18. The examination costs $27.50, but is free to students who qualify as low-income. For more information, contact Clensay at (805) 933-8445.
