Printronix Enjoys Third-Quarter Surge in Net

Printronix, which makes computer printers, reported third-quarter net income surged, primarily because of increased sales volume, manufacturing efficiencies and cost reductions on its new printers.

The company earned $3.2 million, or 39 cents a share, for the quarter ended Dec. 27, up from $830,000, or 10 cents a share, for the like period a year ago. Sales rose 20% to $44.5 million from $37.1 million. For the first nine months, the company posted net income of $8.1 million, or 98 cents a share, 50% higher than the $5.4 million, or 66 cents a share, for the corresponding three quarters a year ago. Sales increased 11% to $132.3 million from $118.8 million.
