A 2-month-old boy was hospitalized in serious condition Wednesday after a motorist lost control and crashed into a bus stop where the infant was waiting with his 5-year-old brother, mother and grandmother, authorities said.

Both boys were flown to Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles, said Bob Collis, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

A spokesman for the hospital said the 5-year-old received mostly abrasions and other minor injuries and was listed in fair condition. But the infant remained in serious condition Wednesday evening.

The grandmother was treated at Granada Hills Community Hospital for minor injuries to an ankle, Collis said. The mother was unhurt.

The infant was knocked out of his stroller, Collis said. The accident occurred about 11:30 a.m. while the family waited for a bus in the 11000 block of Balboa Boulevard.

The car left skid marks on the sidewalk before it crashed into the bench. Neither the driver nor his passenger were hurt, Collis said.

As of late Wednesday there were no arrests but the case remained under investigation, said Officer Bill Mulvihill of the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division.
