In another Golden West League game:

Saddleback 53, Santa Ana 36--Saddleback opened with a strong first half, taking a 28-13 lead over Santa Ana. Saddleback improved to 8-8, 1-0. Santa Ana is to 3-11, 0-1.

In the Garden Grove League:

La Quinta 50, Pacifica 49 (OT)--La Quinta’s Danny Cotto made a 15-foot basket with 15 seconds left in overtime to lift the Aztecs to victory.

La Quinta (9-6, 1-0) battled back from a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime on Scott Ogilvie’s three-pointer at the end of regulation. Ogilvie scored 14 points for the Aztecs.

Los Amigos 67, Bolsa Grande 52--Mike Wahl scored 18 points to lead Los Amigos. Duc Nguyen, the county’s third leading scorer, was held to 15 points.

Bolsa Grande (7-9, 0-1), played sloppy on defense the entire game and was unable to control the boards against Los Amigos, which improves to 7-0, 1-0).

Santiago 42, Rancho Alamitos 35--Ronnie Harrell scored 15 points as Santiago (5-7, 1-0) defeated Rancho Alamitos in the league opener. Santiago scored 18 points in the second half to take the lead for good.

In nonleague boys’ basketball:

Brea Olinda 75, Villa Park 49--Brea Olinda, ranked eighth, outscored second-ranked Villa Park, 22-4, in the first quarter.

Sean Wink scored 25 points, Chris McMillian had 19 and Jason Skrifvars had 17 rebounds for the Wildcats (12-3), who limited Villa Park’s 7-1 center Eric Chenowith to nine points.

Brethren Christian 65, Capistrano Valley Christian 59--Dan Muilenburg scored 24 points for Brethren Christian (7-8). Duane Hundley scored 12 points and had 12 rebounds for the Warriors.

Jacob Brown scored 13 points for Brethren Christian.

Capistrano Valley 78, Estancia 75 (OT)--Brian Thurlow scored 31 points as 10th-ranked Capistrano Valley defeated Estancia. Sam Nelson scored 32 points for Estancia (11-5). Capistrano Valley went to the free throw line 22 times making 17 shots.

Irvine 64, Edison 53--Chris Ferguson scored 20 points for Irvine (9-7), which outscored visiting Edison, 39-31, in the second half.

Katella 54, Canyon 39--Katella outscored Canyon, 20-11, in the fourth quarter as the Knights extended their winning streak to 11 games.

Joe Barraza and Kenny Moreno each scored 11 points for the Knights (12-3).

Los Alamitos 56, Cypress 44--Third-ranked Los Alamitos (13-2) jumped to a 29-16 lead in the first half. Matt Komer scored 16 points and Monroe Moore scored 13 for the Griffins.

Wes Bunn scored 10 points and Chris Heil and Travis Weaver each added nine for Cypress (9-6).

Valencia 51, El Dorado 49--Travis Lane made one of two free throws with six seconds remaining for Valencia (10-6).

Ryan Ayer, who scored 16 points, had an opportunity to tie the score for El Dorado (13-3), but missed both free throws. Robert Smith scored 15 points for Valencia.
