Fullerton Turns Over Chance to Turn Back Rancho Santiago

Chanel Neal scored with 11 seconds left to give visiting Rancho Santiago a 59-58 victory over Fullerton in a Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball game Friday.

Fullerton had a chance to take back the lead but turned the ball over with about seven seconds left and Rancho Santiago ran out the clock.

Neal, a freshman, was five of five from the field and finished with 11 points.

Antoinette Thompson and Becky Salvatierra had 15 points each for first-place Rancho Santiago (15-3, 2-0).

Pauline McGee added 10 points and 18 rebounds for Rancho Santiago.

Lauren Murphy had 19 points, including three of six three-pointers for Fullerton (12-8, 1-1). Angie Baca added 16.

In another conference game:

Orange Coast 73, Riverside 65--Sophomore forward Dianne Pulido had 26 points and 10 rebounds for host Orange Coast (14-6, 1-1).

Orange Coast also got strong play from its backcourt as Saki Takemoto had 16 points and six assists and Traci Nakamura added 14 points and six assists.

Katie Glenn had 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Lori Pickering had 17 points, including five three pointers, for Riverside (10-9, 0-1).
