Fluor Corp. Appoints Conaway Senior Vice President

J. Michal Conaway has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer of Irvine-based Fluor Corp. He joined Fluor in 1993 as vice president of finance and was appointed chief financial officer in June 1994. Before joining Fluor, Conaway was chief financial officer and a member of the board of directors of National Gypsum Company and its parent company Aancor Holdings Inc. in Dallas.

Joel R. Stone has been appointed senior vice president of organization and human resources for Rockwell International in Seal Beach. He was also elected a corporate officer. Stone succeeds Robert H. Murphy, who announced his plans to retire early this year after 35 years with the company. Stone was previously vice president of compensation and benefits.

Bob Bollar has been elected administrative partner of the Orange County office of the law firm of Cummins & White LLP. He has been with the firm since 1986, focusing on products liability, construction defect cases and insurance coverage issues.

Stephen R. Tully has joined Costa Mesa-based Quiksilver Inc., a designer and distributor of casual sportswear, snowboardwear and swimwear as executive vice president of the Raisins division. Prior to joining Quiksilver, Tully was vice president of Vaurnet Optical/Orlux Distribution of Los Angeles for two years and spent two years at Ocean Pacific Apparel Corp. as executive vice president. He was also vice president, national sales manager of Quiksilver from 1988 to 1993. In addition, Gregory W. Ziegler has been appointed executive vice president of domestic operations. Ziegler has been with Quiksilver since 1988 when he was hired as director of production and planning. Since then he has held the positions of vice president of production and senior vice president. As executive vice president of operations he will oversee production, marketing, domestic operations and corporate programs.

Greg Davidson has been named vice president of client/server engineering for State of the Art Inc., an Irvine accounting software developer. Dan Shapero, former vice president of the division, has resigned to pursue other business opportunities. Davidson joined the company in 1995 as vice president of its Troy, Mich.-based client/server development operation.

Judy R. Hanks has been named vice president, operations for Marine National Bank in Irvine. Hanks, who joined the bank six years ago, had been assistant vice president-operations officer.

Sari Ratsula has been appointed senior vice president of sales and product development for Vans Inc., an Orange footwear manufacturer. She succeeds Gordon C. Lee, who is leaving the company for personal reasons. Ratsula will be responsible for national sales as well as design and product development, which she has managed for the past six years. In addition, John Walker has been named to the newly created position of vice president of merchandising. Walker joins the company from Journey’s, a 100-store retail division of Genesco.

Eugene J. Warner has joined Onyx Acceptance Corp. in Irvine as executive vice president of collections. Warner was formerly with Consumer Portfolio Services in Irvine, where he was senior vice president in charge of loan servicing and collections.

Eric Mabry has been named area vice president of sales and marketing for Canada and Europe for I-Flow Corp., an Irvine designer and developer of medical products. He had been director of international sales and marketing. Lori Dowdy, formerly accounting manager, has been appointed controller.

James R. Quandt has been appointed president of National Telephone & Communications Inc. in Irvine, a subsidiary of Incomnet Inc. Ed Jacobs, who was chairman, chief executive and president of the unit, will remain chairman and chief executive. Quandt was formerly chairman of Bridge Information Services, where he directed acquisition strategy, including the 1996 acquisition of Knight-Ridder Financial Services. Before that, he was president and chief executive of Standard & Poor’s Financial Information Group, a division of McGraw-Hill Companies.

Dominick A. Arena has been named vice president of health care business for Furon Co., an engineered polymer components company in Laguna Niguel. Arena has been a consultant to the company for the past year. He was also president and chief executive of AnaMed International and, prior to that, president of Hudson Respiratory Care Inc. in Temecula, Calif.

Leslie A. Blewett has joined Mazda Motor of America Inc. in Irvine as manager of external communications. She was previously marketing manager for Tomy Toys, where she was responsible for developing and implementing the company’s public relations program.
