Duck update--They’ll head into the All-Star break after games today at Vancouver and Wednesday at Calgary. They’ve won four of six but are still trying to get to .500 for the first time since the fourth game. Paul Kariya has moved into the top 20 in NHL scoring with 43 points despite sitting out 13 games because of injuries. He’s coming off his first NHL hat trick and has 12 points in the last six games. Teemu Selanne also has a six-game point streak, with a goal in each of the last four games.
Canuck update--Vancouver has been a dangerous opponent for the Ducks, who have been outscored, 11-4, in two losses. Vancouver won, 5-1, on Monday in Anaheim. Pavel Bure has regained his form after last year’s knee surgery and leads the team with with 18 goals and 40 points. He has a five-game goal streak and a seven-game point streak. Winger Russ Courtnall is expected to return from a groin injury today after sitting out more than a month.
