Davis Keys Long Beach Victory

Sara Davis scored a game-high 25 points for host Long Beach State, which beat UC Irvine, 81-71, Sunday in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game.

Davis made nine of 14 shots from the field, including three of five three-pointers. Kesha Wade added 18 points as she made eight of 14 shots for Long Beach (5-8, 2-0 in conference).

UC Irvine (6-7, 1-1) had five players in double figures, led by Shannon Andes who had 16 points.

Leticia Oseguera added 13, Sabrina Roberson 12 and Megan Safford and Chelsea Mackey each had 10 for UC Irvine.

In another Big West Conference game:

Pacific 76, Cal State Fullerton 74--The visiting Titans were outscored, 40-31, in the second half. Andrea Thieme made 10 of 17 shots from the field and finished with a game-high 25 points for Fullerton (5-7, 0-2).

Dee Braxton had 13 points, Kristin Sigg 11 and Kim Cram had 10 for Fullerton, which led, 43-36, at halftime.

Kelly Stevens led Pacific (2-11, 1-1) with 17 points. Martha Yarbrough had 14 points and sister Sarah Yarbrough had 12 points and seven rebounds for Pacific.
