Police Chiefs to Field Safety, Crime Queries
Three local police chiefs will host their annual community forum on safety tonight at Walker Junior High School in La Palma.
Buena Park Police Chief Richard M. Tefank, Cypress Police Chief Daryl Wicker and La Palma Police Chief David S. Barr will field questions on community safety at the “Three Police Chiefs Night,” which usually lasts about one hour.
“We all do this since all of us have young people in our communities who go to Walker Junior High and [John F.] Kennedy High,” Barr said. “It gives parents an opportunity to ask questions of us about the community, drugs, gangs and how vulnerable their children are. It kind of opens the eyes of parents and sometimes opens our eyes too.”
The forum, which is sponsored by the Walker Junior High School PTSA, has been an annual event for more than five years.
The “Three Police Chiefs Night” begins at 7 p.m. Walker Junior High School is at 8132 Walker St. Information: (714) 220-4051.
