Kathleen O’Connell Hodge has been named vice chancellor of educational services for the Saddleback Community College District.

Hodge, who has 21 years of experience, most recently served as associate vice chancellor. She was appointed to her new position by the district’s board of trustees at its Nov. 18 meeting.

The district has two colleges: Saddleback College in Mission Viejo and Irvine Valley College.

Hodge, of San Clemente, joined the district in 1975 as an instructor at Saddleback College. In 1987, she was appointed dean of continuing education and community services. She has served as associate vice chancellor since June 1995.

During her tenure, Hodge has held several positions, including president of the Academic Senate of Saddleback College and chair of both the Saddleback College General Education Committee and the Academic Standards Committee. She also served as president of California Community Colleges Educators of Older Adults and an advisor of Alpha Gamma Sigma honor society.

Hodge is listed in Who’s Who in American Women and Who’s Who in American Community Colleges.

She received a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and a master’s degree in counseling from Cal State Fullerton. Her husband, Vern Hodge, is vice president of student services at Saddleback College.
