From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The space shuttle Atlantis docked with Russia’s Mir space station, bringing fresh supplies and a change of crew for the orbiting outpost, officials at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida said. The two craft linked up as they soared 247 miles above Russia. It was the fifth time the shuttle had docked at Mir. The hatches between the spaceships were due to swing open about 90 minutes after the docking, allowing astronaut Jerry Linenger to take the place of current U.S. Mir resident John Blaha.
