Ivy Walk Houses Open for Tours Today
Starting today, prospective homeowners will be able to tour Ivy Walk, a community of 50 single-family homes built on formerly blighted property with help from the city’s Redevelopment Agency.
The land, on Trask Avenue between Hoover Street and Beach Boulevard, had been the site of an aging cement plant and storage yard that contained rusting construction equipment, said Don Anderson, the city’s redevelopment director.
As an incentive, the city offered a $500,000 interest-free loan to the developer, Olson Co. in Seal Beach, to help Olson acquire the 5.5-acre property.
“Our interest was in the elimination of blight,” Anderson said. “The property was in bad, bad shape.”
Most of the 50 homes will be priced at $200,000 to $300,000, with some priced lower to meet affordable-housing standards, Olson Co. spokeswoman Diane Gaynor said.
“We’re very pleased with this project,” Anderson said. “Already it’s made a major improvement in the appearance of the area.”
Starting today, the sales office on Trask will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Mondays, when the hours will be 1 to 5 p.m.
