Oseguera, Stafford Help Irvine Women Win
Leticia Oseguera had 22 points and 13 rebounds and freshman Megan Stafford added 20 points and seven assists to help UC Irvine defeat Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, 66-47, in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game Friday at Irvine.
Irvine (7-7, 2-1 in conference) held San Luis Obispo (1-13, 0-3) to 29% shooting from the field in the second half and won the rebounding battle, 52-37. The Mustangs made only three of 16 three-point shots.
In other conference games:
UC Santa Barbara 82, Cal State Fullerton 62--Erin Alexander and Amy Smith each scored 25 points for UC Santa Barbara (10-4, 3-0).
Jackie Bucher had 19 points and 14 rebounds and Andrea Thieme scored 19 points for Cal State Fullerton (5-8, 0-3).
Boise State 82, Long Beach State 79--Adara Newidouski scored a career-high 23 points for Long Beach State (5-9, 1-2).
In nonconference men’s volleyball:
Long Beach State 3, La Verne 1--Geoffrey Cryst had 19 kills and Gaby Amar had 13 kills and nine blocks for Long Beach State, which won, 13-15, 15-1, 15-4, 15-10.
