Japanese-American Group to Hear Ito
Superior Court Judge Lance Ito will be the keynote speaker at a dinner Saturday organized by the San Fernando Valley chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League.
The human- and civil-rights group will install its new board members at the dinner, which will also feature KNBC news anchor Wendy Tokuda as emcee. League members Harry Nakada and Henry Yamamura will be honored at the dinner for their continued contributions to the organization.
The Valley chapter of the league has about 150 members. Some of the members were active in a decades-long redress campaign that resulted in President Reagan in 1988 signing a bill that formally apologized for the internment of people of Japanese ancestry during World War II.
The dinner will be held at the Airtel Plaza Hotel, 7277 Valjean Ave., Van Nuys. Registration starts at 6 p.m. and tickets are $40. For further information, contact Marion Shigekuni at (818) 893-1581.
