December Restaurant Closures

The county Department of Health Services has the power to shut down food facilities for as long as necessary for the owners to correct conditions that pose a danger to the public health. Here is a list of the restaurants closed during December.

* Antojitos Restaurant--130 W. Anaheim St., Wilmington. Closed 12/20 and remains closed.* No public health permit, unprotected food.

* Badhi Garden Vegetarian--1498 W. Sunset Blvd., L.A. Closed 12/10 to 12/30. Poor general sanitation.

* Bill’s Tacos--3292 W. Slauson Ave., L.A. Closed 12/5 to 12/6. Sewage system failure.

* California Salsa--201 N. Los Angeles St., No. 104, L.A. Closed 12/5 to 12/9. Contaminated food, poor general sanitation, vermin infestation, unsanitary equipment.

* Century Grill--5101 W. Century Blvd., Inglewood. Closed 12/9 to 12/10. Sewage system failure.

* Charlie’s Donut Company--15650 Nordhoff St., Sepulveda. Closed 12/26 and remains closed.* No public health permit, sewage system failure, no toilet facilities.

* China Palm Restaurant--3012 Wilshire Blvd., L.A. Closed 12/3 to 12/9. Vermin infestation, improper sanitizing or storage of multiuse utensils, poor general sanitation.

* Chol Thai Chinese Food--3547 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Lynwood. Closed 12/6 to 12/10. No public health permit, poor general sanitation, contaminated food.

* Club Sinaloa Bar--3745 S. Western Ave., L.A. Closed 12/19 to 12/20. No public health permit.

* Durango Inn--742 E. 12th St., L.A. Closed 12/10 to 12/12. No potable water supply or no hot water.

* El Super Taco--5010 Rosemead Blvd., Pico Rivera. Closed 12/9 to 12/10. Sewage system failure.

* Fey’s Sushi Restaurant--8162 Sunset Blvd., L.A. Closed 12/18 to 12/19. Improper sanitizing or storage of multiuse utensils.

* Flamingo’s Restaurant--8311 Atlantic Blvd., Cudahy. Closed 12/16 to 12/24. No potable water supply or no hot water, poor general sanitation, vermin infestation.

* Food Truck Meat Market--5613 S. Central Ave., L.A. Closed 12/6 and remains closed.* No public health permit, improper sanitizing or storage of multiuse utensils, vermin infestation.

* Foster’s Freeze--7540 Eastern Ave., Bell Gardens. Closed 12/17 to 12/23. Sewage system failure, improper sanitizing or storage of multiuse utensils, unsanitary equipment.

* Guadalajara De Noche--1021 W. El Segundo Blvd., Gardena. Closed 12/17; reopened same day. No public health permit.

* H. Salt Fish & Chips--147 N. Grand Ave., Covina. Closed 12/10 to 12/19. No potable water supply or no hot water.

* Industry Cafe--3191-93 Caheunga Blvd. West, L.A. Closed 12/20 to 12/23. Poor general sanitation.

* Kentucky Fried Chicken--849 S. Baldwin Ave., Arcadia. Closed 12/6 to 12/9. Unprotected food, no toilet facilities, unsanitary equipment, vermin infestation.

* King’s Cafe--12029 S. Central Ave., L.A. Closed 12/17 and remains closed.* No public health permit.

* King’s Garden--2557 Via Campo Drive, Montebello. Closed 12/4 to 12/6. Poor general sanitation.

* Las Penas--726 S. Pacific Ave., San Pedro. Closed 12/4 to 12/6. No potable water supply or no hot water.

* McDonald’s Restaurant--44765 Valley Central Way, Lancaster. Closed 12/24 to 12/26. Vermin infestation.

* Panda Sticks--1212 S. Greenwood Ave., Montebello. Closed 12/11 to 12/12. No potable water supply or no hot water.

* Pung Lai--2001 Pacific Coast Highway, Lomita. Closed 12/12 to 12/13. Poor general sanitation.

* 7 Star Donuts & Chinese Food--1754 W. Slauson Ave., L.A. Closed 12/27; reopened same day. No public health permit, no potable water supply or no hot water.

* Soul to Soul--44759 N. Sierra Highway, Lancaster. Closed 12/3 to 12/10. Vermin infestation, unsafe food temperatures.

* Taqueria La Lupita--9929 S. Long Beach Blvd., Lynwood. Closed 12/31 and remains closed.* Contaminated food, improper sanitizing or storage of multiuse utensils, no potable water supply or no hot water, unprotected food, no public health permit.

* Taqueria Tijuana No. 2--925 E. Vernon St., L.A. Closed 12/30 to 12/31. No potable water supply or no hot water.

* Tip Top Deli--8108 W. 3rd St., L.A. Closed 12/4 to 12/5. No potable water supply or no hot water.

* Urth Cafe--8565 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood. Closed 12/18; reopened same day. No potable water supply or no hot water.

* Willie’s Lounge--640 E. Holt Ave., Pomona. Closed 12/11 to 12/17. No plans submitted.

Restaurant reopened in December after being closed in November:

* Teriyaki Bowl--6043 Pacific Ave., Huntington Park. Closed 11/26 to 12/2. No public health permit, non-approved equipment, unsafe food temperatures.

*Remained closed as of Jan. 1.
