Arts Center Board to Elect Officers

The board of governors of the Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center will elect a new chairman and vice chairman during its 7 p.m. meeting today.

The officers, elected to one-year terms from among the 15 governing board members, will steer a wide range of arts activities in Thousand Oaks, including performances at the Charles E. Probst Center for the Performing Arts and children’s enrichment programs.

The board will also reorganize its six committees, which determine the performing arts center’s programming, marketing, business operations and finances, fund-raising, educational programs and freeway signage. Committee appointees will be selected from the board of governors membership.

Seven members of the board are appointed by the Thousand Oaks City Council.

Five members are nominated by the Thousand Oaks Alliance for the Arts and confirmed by the City Council. The Alliance for the Arts also designates one representative who need not be confirmed by the City Council.

Also, one member of the governing board is designated by the Thousand Oaks Arts Commission, and one is appointed by the Arts Council of the Conejo Valley.

Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting in the Charles E. Probst Center for the Performing Arts Founders Room, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. It will be followed by a meeting of the Civic Arts Plaza Foundation Board of Directors.
