2 El Toro Football Players Choose Colleges

Two El Toro football players who made the Chargers one of the county’s best offensive teams, have orally committed to colleges, Coach Mike Milner said Wednesday.

Offensive tackle Jim Adams (6-5, 275), a Times all-county offensive lineman, has said he will attend Oregon next year.

Michael Smith (5-11, 165), a wide receiver, who caught more than 100 passes the past three seasons, has chosen Montana. Smith caught 27 passes for 491 yards and four touchdowns last season, and 33 for 446 yards as a junior. A year earlier, at Mission Viejo, Smith caught 45 passes for 638 yards.

Corey Tolmasoff, a center fielder on the San Clemente baseball team, has orally committed to attend Columbia this fall, Triton Coach Dave Gellatly said.

Tolmasoff, who batted .329 with 15 runs batted in last season, when he was a first-team All-South Coast League selection, also considered Dartmouth and Loyola Marymount.

Stan Bennett, a Santa Margarita offensive lineman, has orally committed to play football at Villanova, the high school announced. Bennett was captain of the Eagle team that finished 13-1 and won a Southern Section championship.
