Man Dies in Crash During Rainstorm
An Oxnard construction worker died after losing control of his car during Wednesday’s rainstorm and hit a telephone pole, authorities said Thursday.
David Mora Guiterrez, 25, died about 11 p.m. Wednesday after careening off the southbound lanes of the Ventura Freeway north of Victoria Avenue, smashing through a fence and hitting a telephone pole, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
Although there were no witnesses to the accident, the CHP determined that Guiterrez was traveling too fast for the road conditions.
He is survived by a brother in Ventura and family in Mexico, according to officials with the coroner’s office.
