Tuiolosega Sets Ocean View Record in Rout
Guard Jennifer Tuiolosega scored an Ocean View High single-game record 46 points as the Seahawks beat Saddleback, 86-23, in a Golden West League girls’ basketball game Thursday at Ocean View.
Tuiolosega was 11 of 16 from the field, including making four of six three-point shots. She was made 12 of 15 free throws.
Anna Lembke had 16 points and seven rebounds for Ocean View (17-4, 5-0).
In other Golden West League games:
Westminster 74, Rosary 72--Janet Glasby scored 40 points for visiting Westminster, which withstood a last-second shot by Rosary that missed. Junior Sarah Belavic had eight assists to set the Rosary single-season record at 115.
Tustin 53, Santa Ana 34--Shamekia Perkins scored 18 points and Brook Brown had nine points and 15 rebounds for Tustin (10-11, 2-3).
In the Century League:
Foothill 46, Canyon 39--Robyn Templeton had 17 points and 11 rebounds for first-place Foothill (13-5, 5-0).
Santa Ana Valley 42, Orange 34--Sabrina Jones had nine points and six steals to lead Santa Ana Valley (8-12, 2-3). Niki Ottrix had seven points and 10 rebounds for Santa Ana Valley.
Villa Park 52, El Modena 40--Missy Bynon had 29 points and four assists for host Villa Park (8-10, 4-1), which outscored El Modena (9-7, 2-3), 32-22, in the second half. Valerie Matweef scored 21 for the Vanguards.
In the Empire League:
El Dorado 78, Katella 50--Stephanie Patten scored 23 points and Jamie Nebeker had 20 for El Dorado (10-8, 3-1).
Century 56, Kennedy 30--Aprile Powell scored 23 points, including 17 in the first half, and grabbed 15 rebounds for first-place Century (14-6, 4-0), which led, 23-8, after the first quarter.
Cypress 41, Loara 33--Stacy Silva had 10 points and 21 rebounds for visiting Cypress (14-6, 3-1), which trailed by five points after one quarter but outscored Loara (10-10, 1-3), 19-4, in the second quarter.
In the Freeway League:
Sunny Hills 38, Buena Park 36--Shannon Lewis scored 14 points for host Sunny Hills (2-14, 1-3). Kate Ragains scored 16 points for Buena Park (1-15, 0-4).
Troy 52, La Habra 46--Tammy Yonamine scored 12 and Sarah Spencer added 10 to lead Troy (15-3, 4-0). Lisa Moreno scored 12 for La Habra (10-10, 2-2).
In the Olympic League:
Orange Lutheran 54, Whittier Christian 49--Sheri Harako scored 14 points for host Orange Lutheran (4-13, 1-3).
Brethren Christian 52, Calvary Chapel 30--Rachael MacDonald had 19 points and eight rebounds and Cindy Oparah added 14 points and 11 rebounds for host Brethren Christian (14-3, 4-0). Brethren Christian outscored Calvary Chapel, 30-12, in the second half to remain tied for first place.
In the Orange League:
Brea Olinda 99, Savanna 31--Marissa Bradley scored 27 points and Jennifer Saari had 16 for second-ranked Brea Olinda (16-2, 4-0), which outscored host Savanna, 32-7, in the second quarter to take a 30-point halftime lead.
Valencia 57, Anaheim 24--Trish Christian scored 17 to lead Valencia (10-10, 4-1). Darlene Tu’ua scored 15 for Anaheim (1-9, 0-3).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Aliso Niguel 63, University 54--Brooke Hyman had 19 points and 16 rebounds to lead Aliso Niguel (13-5, 2-2). Jerri Armendariz scored 39 points for University (8-10, 0-4).
Estancia 62, Laguna Beach 29--Vivi Rodriguez scored 21 points to lead Estancia (11-9, 2-2), which led by 21 at the half.
Laguna Hills 50, Costa Mesa 29--Tamara Inoue scored 13 points for Laguna Hills (16-3, 4-0), the top-ranked team in Orange County. The Hawks outscored the Mustangs (13-8, 3-1), 32-18, in the second half.
In the Sea View League:
Woodbridge 67, Corona del Mar 31--Krissy Duperron scored 16 points and Carly Moss and Kari Duperron each had 12 for third-ranked Woodbridge (14-3, 5-0).
Newport Harbor 61, El Toro 51--M.E. Clayton scored 17 second-half points to lift Newport Harbor (10-7, 3-1) from a 28-21 deficit. Breanna Badorek led Newport Harbor in scoring with 21. Giuliana Mendiola scored 24 and Gioconda Mendiola added 16 for El Toro (15-5, 2-3).
In the South Coast League:
Mission Viejo 59, Trabuco Hills 44--Christina Carcich had 20 points and teammate Margaret Enoch added 16 for host Mission View.
San Clemente 73, Dana Hills 25--Taryn Commins scored 15 to lead San Clemente (15-5, 4-1). Kirsten Quade and Andrea Jacobs each had 14 points for San Clemente.
