Helicopters
Regarding Rep. Bob Filner’s (D-San Diego) Jan. 20 letter on the move of marine helicopters to Miramar:
I have lived in unincorporated Orange County north of Tustin for almost 23 years, directly under the path of Tustin helicopters. I wish the decision to close the base in Tustin and also El Toro had never been made. Never have I been bothered by the helicopters.
I always felt that a new commercial airport should have been put down at the Miramar Naval Air Station. San Diego needs a new airport and this would have taken care of both areas. However, the powers that be don’t look at solutions easily. Instead, they closed two Marine bases in Orange County and convert a naval air station to a Marine base. Big business wins out!
So count your blessings, San Diego, and quit whining!
