Jimi Redux: MCA Records Inc. has signed a deal with the family of the late Jimi Hendrix to re-release the legendary guitarist’s music. . . . “We’ve got everything, including some songs that have never been released,” a spokeswoman for the Universal City label said. . . . The first release is planned for later this year.

Heroic Acts: The Glendale Fire Department presents its medal of valor to Firefighters Scott French and William Jensen at an annual awards banquet tonight. . . . Both men were burned while battling brush fires in Malibu last October. . . . French returned to work last month. Jensen is expected to be released Sunday from a Sherman Oaks hospital.

Speak No Evil: The state Supreme Court decision that employers could be penalized for giving good job references to bad workers (D1) didn’t surprise executives at Panavision Inc. in Woodland Hills. The company stopped giving references years ago. It’s because of the fear of lawsuits from ex-employees, said one executive. He added: “I think it’s ludicrous.”
