From Times Wire Reports

Mexican lawmen questioned former President Carlos Salinas de Gortari in Ireland in connection with the killing of his ex-brother-in-law, the attorney general’s office said. A terse news release said Salinas was interrogated Monday for 16 hours about the 1994 shooting of Francisco Ruiz Massieu, but it gave no details of the deposition. Salinas had also been questioned by Mexican investigators in November concerning the 1994 assassination of presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio. Both interrogations took place at the Mexican Embassy in Dublin, where Salinas lives in self-imposed exile. Salinas is not a suspect in either case. The former president’s brother, Raul Salinas de Gortari, has been accused of plotting Ruiz Massieu’s slaying and is being held for trial.
