Esperanza withstood a strong Edison comeback because of a key forfeit as the Aztecs won a Sunset League wrestling meet Thursday at Edison.

With the score 20-12, Mike Nowell (152) pinned John Zepeda in 47 seconds to extend Esperanza’s lead to 26-12. Edison won four of the next five matches, but had to forfeit the 215-pound match because the Chargers didn’t have a wrestler for that weight class.

Chad Keller (160), Tom Kenney (171) and Joe Thomas (189) won their matches by decision and Mike Ketcham (275) pinned Kelly Mort in 1:47 for Edison.
