Ernie Anderson, 73, whose voice was familiar on popular television series. Although Anderson did not appear on the small screen, he did the voice-overs for dozens of ABC programs, including “The Love Boat” and the landmark miniseries “Roots” and “The Winds of War.” His voice could invoke fear or reassure listeners, and he had a strong sense that the way he read material was always right. “He could scare you to death with his voice,” said his agent, Rita Vennari, “but he was a puppy dog.” Anderson became a friend of several television regulars, often playing golf with such comrades as Tim Conway and Harvey Korman.
