Bullets Reportedly Have Hired Bickerstaff as Coach
Denver Nugget president Bernie Bickerstaff is expected be introduced today as the new coach of the Washington Bullets, ESPN reported.
Bickerstaff, a former assistant under current Nugget Coach Dick Motta when Washington won its only NBA title in 1978, has reportedly agreed to a three-year, $4.5 million contract to replace Jim Lynam, who was fired Wednesday.
Bickerstaff, 52, has three years left on his contract with Denver. He joined the Nuggets in 1990 as the team’s executive vice president. Bickerstaff served in the dual role of coach/president of the Nuggets from February 1995 to November 1996 before handing the coaching job to Motta.
