This is where Arizona, half a game behind its two opponents this weekend (but tied in the loss column), must make its charge or fall back in the conference race to let UCLA, USC and California battle for the title. The perimeter-dominated Wildcats have won five of their last six games, including an 81-62 gobbling of then-No. 24 Tulane at McKale Center last Sunday. In that game, junior swingman Miles Simon scored a career-high 30 points and had 10 assists. In the Arizona game at Pauley Pavilion, UCLA’s Charles O’Bannon scored 24 points, had 13 rebounds and dominated the overtime period with eight points. O’Bannon has made 32 of his last 36 free throws (88.9%), lifting him to the top spot in the conference at 83.8% for the season.
