Sloan Gets a Longer Deal
Utah Jazz Coach Jerry Sloan has received a one-year contract extension, keeping him on the job at least through the 1998-99 season.
The team did not provide details of the contract, but the Salt Lake Tribune said the next two seasons are worth between $1 million and $1.5 million.

Dennis Rodman won in another court as a federal appeals court in Atlanta upheld a jury’s ruling against a California woman who claimed the NBA star infected her with herpes in 1993. Lisa Beth Judd, a former Atlanta Hawk cheerleader, had sought $1.83 million in damages.
