Goldman’s Offer to Simpson

Re “Simpson Rejects Offer by Goldman,” Feb. 13: What? O.J. confess? No way. Three reasons:

He might have to implicate others who helped him dispose of the bloody clothes and shoes.

He already has convinced a large segment of the African American community that he is 100% innocent.

Chances are he won’t ever pay a fraction of the huge jury awards, so why cave in and detail a confession which would brand him a liar, murderer and cheat?

Perhaps when he is 75 years old or in final stages of a mortal illness, he might let out the facts.

* When a person will go to almost any length for money, that person forgets that men of principles will not. One may be stripped naked and left in the streets with a cup in his hand and yet hold fast to his cry of innocent! Perhaps one group will always be poor and another group will grow rich by their methods. So be it.

* I thoroughly enjoyed your profile of Daniel Petrocelli (Feb. 12). It was refreshing to be introduced to an attorney passionately committed to doing a good job for his client and cause without regard to money or celebrity. Petrocelli has helped restore faith in lawyers, the legal system and humanity.
