Viacom Chief Defends MTV Programming
“MTV is not violent,” declared Sumner Redstone, chairman and chief executive of media giant Viacom Inc., after completing a speech at an investment conference in Dana Point last week. Redstone’s comment was in response to a query about the sometimes graphic programming on the Viacom-owned cable network.
He also took issue with the questioner’s contention that the music videos shown on MTV were little more than soft-core pornography. But he added, “Who says there’s anything wrong with sex?”
