Council Candidates to Hold Issues Forum
Camarillo residents will have an opportunity to grill City Council candidates and find out where they stand on issues at a forum Thursday evening.
Chris Valenzano, Mike Morgan and Ned Chatfield will vie in the June 3 election for the seat left vacant by former Councilman Ken Gose’s death. The winner will serve the remaining 17 months of Gose’s four-year term.
The three candidates will begin the forum with a statement of why they are running and what they hope to accomplish if elected, then take questions from the audience.
Valenzano is an 18-year-old Camarillo High School senior; Morgan served on the council for 16 1/2 years before stepping down to pursue an unsuccessful bid for county supervisor in November; and Chatfield was a member of Camarillo’s original City Council in 1964 and served until 1974.
Former Camarillo Mayor David Smith will moderate the forum, sponsored by the Democratic Club, at the Camarillo Library at 3100 Ponderosa Drive from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
