After months of debate and study, the City Council and the Main Street Merchants Assn. have agreed on a site to hold a farmers market.

The council recently voted unanimously to have the weekly market in a parking lot of a bowling alley at the corner of Imperial Highway and Lemon Street.

The Main Street Merchants Assn. had wanted to hold it closer to downtown, but all the sites they previously discussed were rejected.

Although the site has been decided upon, it will still be some time before residents can buy fruit, flowers and vegetables directly from farmers. Council members estimate the market will start in February 1998.
