2 Killed, 1 Injured After Car Veers Off Road
SUN VALLEY — Two men were killed and another man suffered minor injuries early Saturday when their car skidded off Glenoaks Boulevard and crashed into a fire hydrant, fence and a wall before overturning, authorities said.
Pronounced dead at the scene were the driver, Remigio Molina, 33, of Pacoima, and passenger Juan Jiminez, 27, of Lancaster, both of whom were thrown from the 1988 Hyundai, said Officer Leona Thomas of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
Molina was not wearing a seat belt, Thomas said, and investigators were still trying to determine late Saturday whether Jiminez was wearing a seat belt.
The second passenger, Arely Escobar, 34, of Pacoima, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, Thomas said. Escobar was not wearing a seat belt, she said.
Authorities did not immediately know what caused the car to veer off the southbound lane of Glenoaks Boulevard at Truesdale Street, Thomas said. The accident, which occurred about 2 a.m., remains under investigation.
