Laguna Beach artist Sandra Jones Campbell has won the $2,000 first prize for her painting “Bye-Bye Blackbird” at the Southern California open juried exhibition at the Laguna Art Museum.
Second prize ($1,500) went to Fullerton artist C. Gwynn Stevens for a portrait painting, “Remembering Mark.” Santa Barbara sculptor Lucy Brown took third prize ($500) for “Alembic.”
The exhibition, with work by 131 artists, continues through June 15 at the museum, 307 Cliff Drive, Laguna Beach.
Irini Vallera-Rickerson, director of the Orange Coast College Art Gallery, will host an evening of art, food and conversation May 3 at her Laguna Niguel home as a benefit for the gallery.
The evening will begin at 5:30 with hors d’oeuvres. After dinner, Vallera-Rickerson will speak about her recent trip to Greece and show slides of recent excavations on the Greek island of Santorini.
Attendance is limited to 50 and reservations are required. A minimum donation of $50 for the event includes annual gallery membership. (714) 432-5039.
